Happy New Year 2014 & Goodreads Challenge 2014

I hope  it is not too late to wish you all a very happy new year…

Now onto the resolutions…As usual I don’t have any resolutions for this year also as I am sure I will not be able to keep any of my resolutions….So let me not trouble myself making them…

I have decided to read a modest number of 30 books as a part of my Goodreads Reading Challenge 2014. It is modest compared to the ambitious 75 books that I wanted to read in 2013. I could only read 58 which is a good number too.

Here is a peak into my to-read list for 2014. But then some of them have been there for years.

Happy New Year to you too :-) It is never too late.
I had targeted 48, and revised to 60. But I finally read 49 books last year. This year I am setting a goal for 50. I don’t want it to be too goal-oriented. I should be able to read and enjoy at a right pace without compromising on other aspects of my life. ‘Shantaram’ is sitting on my shelf for years now, and so is ‘A Suitable Boy’. These fat books I tell you…ha ha! Honestly, if it had not been about reaching the goal, I would have read those already.

I tend to agree with what Reema has said. Have you ever felt that setting this target affects the quality of reading. Would you’ve enjoyed the reading more if you had no target set?
